About the Role 

We are seeking an IT Microsoft 365 Cloud Engineer who is prepared to support a rapidly growing cloud environment and help modernize our Microsoft 365 and Azure infrastructure. This role provides mid-level support for identity, access, collaboration platforms, email management, device management, cloud security, and tenant governance. You will work closely with the IT Manager and our third-party implementation consultant to help maintain a clean, secure, and well-organized tenant that our staff can depend on.

What is Expected 

  • Primary responsibility is to liaison with our vendor and manage our Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud tenant, ensuring a secure, reliable, and well-governed environment while supporting users and company platforms. 

  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Intune, Intune MDM, Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other related cloud platforms. 

  • Maintain and enhance our Entra ID identity management program, user groups, security protocols, MFA, zero-trust, and role-based access controls. 

  • Assist in building and maintaining conditional access policies that strengthen identity protection and enforce secure login paths. 

  • Support identity governance, including security defaults and identity protection alerts. 

  • Assist with Azure app registrations, enterprise application configurations, permissions, and SSO integrations. 

  • Monitor all Microsoft licenses used within the tenant and advise when additional are needed to maintain services or seats. Offer professional recommendations and Statements of Work (SOWs) for improvements to existing services, and if changes are required regarding license upgrades or downgrades. 

  • Troubleshoot Exchange Online mail flow issues, message traces, routing delays, and delivery failures. 

  • Assist with building and maintaining a structured SharePoint environment including permissions, libraries, versioning, governance, and access auditing. 

  • Support Intune device enrollment, Autopilot provisioning, automated deployments, profiles, and platform configurations, compliance rules, device restrictions, and configuration policies that secure all company endpoints. 

  • Assist with application deployment, device assignments, and lifecycle support across Windows and mobile platforms. 

  • Support preparation and execution of upcoming email migrations and planned infrastructure changes . 

  • Work closely with the IT Security Engineer on identity threats, password resets, compromised account activity, and external file sharing risks within the Azure tenant. 

  • Provide weekly reporting to the IT Manager on Microsoft 365 health, changes, outages, risks, and operational insights. 

  • Create and maintain all Microsoft 365 and Azure documentation, diagrams, configuration guides, and troubleshooting references. 

  • Participate in compliance work involving NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, NERC, NERF, and GDPR. 

  • Help ensure company policies and procedures are followed across the cloud environment. 

  • Be prepared, if asked, to participate in an on-call rotation. 

What We Are Looking For 

We need a cloud engineer who can confidently support Microsoft 365 services and Azure cloud operations while still being humble enough to ask questions and collaborate with others. This person must be resourceful, able to troubleshoot effectively, prioritize tasks, communicate clearly, and handle situations with patience and professionalism. A strong desire to learn new tools within the Microsoft ecosystem is essential. Your work will contribute directly to tenant security, reliability, and improving the user experience for the entire organization. 

Required Qualifications 

  • 3 - 7 years of IT or Microsoft 365 administration experience. 

  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 identity, permissions, licensing, integrations, and email management. 

  • Experience configuring or supporting Entra ID identity management and MFA. 

  • Hands-on experience with Intune migrations, implementation, device management, compliance policies, and configuration profiles. 

  • Worked deeply with conditional access, device governance, and cloud security fundamentals. 

  • Familiarity or experience with an overall governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) documentation processes. 

Education and Certification Guidance 

  • Education can substitute for experience. 

  • An associate degree in IT or cybersecurity in combination with IT certifications may replace two or three years of experience. 

  • A bachelor’s degree in information systems or information security in combination with IT certifications may replace three or four years of experience. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), or other equivalent Microsoft certifications related to Azure  

  • Experience supporting Azure, Intune, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other portal structures. 

  • Experience working with various Windows and Linux server platforms, workstations, and Android and Apple mobile devices through direct support and MDM services. 

  • Experience with Azure app integrations and SSO configurations. 

  • Understanding of Azure administrative roles and tenant governance. 

  • Basic understanding of support in critical infrastructures, i.e., IT/OT environments and First Responder emergency priorities. 

Must Have 

  • The applicant must have a valid driver license and current auto insurance.  

  • Must live in the Houston area or planning to personally relocate to the city.
